If any unusual complications occur such as excessive swelling, bleeding gums or sever pain then it best to contact the dentist immediately. Normally within about 2-3 days the patient feels better can can pretty much return to life as usual. Keep in mind this depends upon the depth of surgery performed. Some cases may be more complicated than others.
